| This team will spend the majority of their time playing soccer with local students and discipling newer Christians. After school and in the evenings any open area is a “field” and many different people come together to play both competitive and friendly matches. The goal is for this time to open doors for witnessing/evangelism. Soccer will be a way to build relationships for sharing the gospel in a one-on-one situation. The missionary’s main goal is evangelism. The team would train local church youth in personal evangelism techniques, and also walk alongside these young people to do a practical application of what they’ve learned. Since the team would be coming during most schools’ vacation times, the soccer fields will be full of young people just hanging out and ready to play a game. The practical application of the evangelism/witnessing training would be done both on the soccer field and in the communities surrounding the churches. | |

| Your main objective while in Burkina Faso will be to share Christ through a cultural exchange, particularly through sports ministry. After a short time of orientation in Bobo, the team will go to a “town” called Sindou for the rest of their stay in Burkina. While in Sindou, the team will play sports, participate in children’s ministry and prayer walk in several neighborhoods. The area surrounding Sindou is culturally diverse and there will be interactionis with various ethnic groups, including the Senufo peoples, Natioro and Ble. They will share with the team their language, culture, and customs. The team, will then have an opportunity to teach them about the “culture” of the Christian life! The volunteers who participate in this particular trip must be very flexible and mature. By doing sports camps and clinics, the team will have access into this country where it might otherwise be prohibited. Sports provide an open door to engage others into a relationship where Christ can be shared. | |

| Missionaries in the Philippines have requested that SportsPlus send a team to work with them using sports to minister to the people in their communities. Volunteers will work in local universities, high schools, and around community parks using various sports. Pick-up games, sports camps, and other methods will be used to draw crowds and build friendships. There will also be other planned events during the evenings to invite others to have dinner, go shopping, and engage in other activities to build friendships. There are over 2 million in the province of Batangas, and only 2% of them are evangelical Christians. Much work is needed in this region, and sports will be a great platform to help the missionaries do ground-breaking work to reach this nation for Christ. | |

Sports ministry will be a big part of the Salt and Light Campaign as a daily outreach project. Every morning teams will be sent out for various forms of relational evangelism. Through conversations, acts of service, recreation and sports, and literature distribution, the citizens of Hunedoara will be exposed to the love of Christ through this volunteer team. Every person contacted by the team members in the morning sessions will receive a personal invitation to an evening service which will include Christian music and an evangelical speaker. Other ministry opportunities may include helping with VBS-type activities, construction, serving in a spa and beauty salon, and helping to beautify the city through service projects. A high-level women's basketball team is needed to assist and work with newly developing women's basketball teams. This SportsPlus team will compete and also provide instruction for this country's Olympic team. Also, during the day the SportsPlus team will have opportunities to work throughout the community to provide clinical outreaches for the youth in the city. This project will assist current mission personnel as they build relationships with key leaders and students. We want to help them with their desire to educate, develop leadership and promote women's rights. This project will help address critical women's social issues that the country is currently facing. The ultimate goal, of course, is to share the Gospel with those our team develops relationships with throughout the course of the project. Highly skilled female athletes and coaches are needed for this project! Our SportsPlus team will return to Uganda to help local pastors host various sports and recreation camps for these children in efforts to minister to these broken lives. The team will use sports and games as an instrument in bringing about Psalm 147:3 to these children: "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." The SportsPlus team will use this opportunity to show these children how to have fun and hopefully regain a sense of what it is like to be a child again.
